Lal Bahadur Shastri’s Honesty
Lal Bahadur Shastri visited a textile plant while serving as India's Prime Minister. He asked the mill owner to show him several Sarees that he may buy for his wife. He was shown several beautiful sarees by the owner. When Shastri ji inquired about the price, he thought it was expensive. He requested sarees that were less expensive. The proprietor showed him some sarees that were less expensive. Shastri ji, on the other hand, thought they were too pricey. The owner was taken aback and informed him that he didn't have to worry about the costs because he was India's Prime Minister and it would be his honour to give him the sarees as a gift.
Shastri ji responded that he could not accept such expensive gifts and that he would only accept a saree that he could afford.
